June Meeting:  No meeting

 

July Meeting:  The July meeting will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Wellington Fair Building in Wellington, MO.  The directions to the building are: Take I-70 to the Odessa Exit (exit 37).  This is highway 131; take 131 North, cross 24 Hwy into Wellington.  The Wellington Fair Building is on the north east corner of the square.

 

June Thermal City:  Start finalizing your trip to Thermal City, North Carolina for our 2-day common dig on June 9 and June 10.  Some of our members are planning on going down a few days earlier to start finding that gold!   The main cabin rentals have already been reserved at Thermal City, but there are plenty of campsites available.  You can give Lloyd Nanney a call to reserve your spot if you want to stay there.  The phone number is 828-286-3016.  The website is www.huntforgold.com for more information.  There are also plenty of motels within a few miles.  Cost for the two day common dig is $125 per person. 

Doug Foster has set up a side trip to the Crabtree Emerald Mine in Little Switzerland, NC for us to visit on Wednesday.  Please contact Doug Foster for more info.  Cost is $20 to dig for the day.  Doug has the directions and where to sign the release form and pay the fee.

Maybe on Saturday, if anyone wants to go on a trip to the Ray Mica Mine, it is located 4 miles SE of Burnsville, NC.  No fee.

 

Sharon Foster brought back a bucket of geodes from the outing to Jacobs Geode Mine to give to Judy Thompson, because she was unable to attend.  Alberta Zumwalt gave Judy a “community geode” that “everyone touched it”.  Nice size geode.

 

September Meeting:   In September we will have an outing at the May farm in Mexico, MO. on September 9, 10, and 11th 2011.   We will pan for gold and have a metal detector hunt.   More info later.

 

A new position, President emeritus, was created and voted on.   Doug Foster was voted to hold this position.
