At the last Executive Board meeting it was voted on by the board of directors to amend the By-laws regarding terms and number of board of directors.  There will only be 5 board members.  For the first year 2 directors will be elected to a one year term and 3 directors will be elected for a two year term.  After the second year, all directors will be elected to a two year term.  The change to the bylaws was voted on by the Chapter.  Doug Foster made the motion and it was seconded by Darren Carpenter.  It passed.

Board Members:  Tom Thompson and Roy Studer were elected to a one year term.  Alberta Zumwalt, Pete Kephart, and Gordon Leighter were elected to a two year term.

KC Gem and Mineral Show:   It was a great success.  We did panning demos.  Scott Anderson reported we sold 50 panning bags and made a profit of $150.  We were asked to come back next year.  The leftover panning bags were purchased by the Chapter.

Jacobs Geode Mine:  We’ve contacted the Jacobs Geode Mine in Hamilton, IL and have reserved the first weekend of May (May 6th, 7th, 8thand the 9th ) for a chapter outing to hunt for geodes.   You can hunt for one day or all four days, and the price is $18 for a five gallon bucket of geodes.  There is no camping on the property, but there is camping in the area.   Be sure to bring buckets, safety glasses and knee pads.

June Thermal City:  Start planning your trip to Thermal City, North Carolina for our 2-day common dig on June 9 and June 10.  Some of our members are planning on going down a few days earlier to start finding that gold!   The main cabin rentals have already been reserved at Thermal City, but there are plenty of campsites available.  You can give Lloyd Nanney a call to reserve your spot if you want to stay there.  The phone number is 828-286-3016.  The website is www.huntforgold.com for more information.  There are also plenty of motels within a few miles. Doug Foster is still setting up a side trip to the Crabtree Emerald Mine in Little Switzerland, NC for us to visit earlier in the week.  Please contact Doug Foster for when everyone wants to go.  Cost is $20 to dig for the day.

Meteorite drawing:  Doug Foster donated a meteorite from China.   Joe Mann was the lucky winner.  Tom Gabriel donated a gold nugget; Alberta Zumwalt was the lucky winner.

Library report:  We have 23 books, 4 DVDs, 2 plans, and 11 Delorme map books.  Thanks to all who donated items.

Thanks:   A big THANK YOU to Larry Coffman for his service as Treasurer and to Carol Coffman for her service as Alt Secretary.  Both have done a great job!!
