September meeting:  Outing at Randy May’s farm on September 10, 11, & 12, 2010

When can I arrive?  You can arrive Friday evening.  I know of several people who will be there on Friday.  Some people will come for just Saturday. That is O.K. too.  By Sunday afternoon most people will have gone home.

Where do I stay?   For those of you who don’t like to rough it much, Mexico has several nice hotels. A lot of people will stay at the May’s.  People will stay in tents, trucks, or RV.

What is the 1st thing I do upon arriving?  After finding a place to park, please find Roenna Johnston. You will need to sign an Indemnity & Release of Liability and the monthly raffle.

Is there a schedule of events?  Yes!! On Saturday, you are fairly free to do what you like. We have a pile of material that you can work. If there is water in the creek, you can set up and work in the creek.

The metal detector hunt will start on 1:00.  Please sign up by 12:45.  When you sign up, please make a donation for the metal detector hunt.

Randy May is planning to set up an area for archery practice, for those who bow hunt or just want to shoot some arrows.

The pot luck dinner will start at 5:00.  The chapter will provide the meat and everyone should bring a side dish to share.  If everyone is not too tired, how about a having a bonfire??

Some of the members will get up early on Sunday morning to drive to Illinois to find geodes.  Maybe Jacobs Geodes 251 N 7th St Hamilton, IL.   Phone 217-357-5384 or one of the other geodes beds in the NE MO area.

What kind of equipment do I bring?  Bring a pan, high banker, sluice, or metal detector.  For those of you that are new, just speak up.  Someone will show you what to do.

What about bad weather? If the weather is bad, a decision will be made on Wed, September 8th, if the outing will be a go.  I will send an e-mail and if you don’t have e-mail please call Roenna at 816- 690-3596 if in doubt.

Regular Monthly Raffle:  We will have a raffle so bring some items to share.  The money from the raffle is what supports our chapter in all our events we do throughout the year.

October Outing:    Lathrop Heritage Days Lathrop, MO. The Dates are October 8, 9, and 10th, 2009.   It that time of year for the Lathrop Heritage Days. Each year in October, Lathrop has a festival demonstrating different old time skill and crafts.  We will set up a panning demo. On Friday, there will be about 1,500 school kids come through.  We show the kids how to pan, sell them some rock and just have a good time. We will need some volunteers for this event.
